Sedation Dentistry in Red Oak & Arlington

Dental anxiety is a common problem among the population, and one that the team here at our Red Oak dentistry is very familiar with. While we understand how difficult this issue can be to overcome, it's also imperative that patients of all ages attend routine appointments - after all, a more serious oral health condition could go unchecked otherwise, eventually causing them to have to spend even more time in an office. That's why we offer sedation dentistry to patients who need that crucial extra layer of comfort and relaxation to truly feel safe as they receive dental care.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation

Also commonly referred to as "laughing gas," nitrous oxide has been a primary means of sedation in dentistry for many years now, and it can provide a nice sense of relaxation, contentment, and even euphoria for patients while they receive dental care from our team. The odorless, colorless gas is delivered through a mask that fits over the nose, and the depth of sedation can be easily altered in order to ensure the patient's complete comfort. Best of all, the effect only takes a few minutes to wear off once your treatment is finished and there's no such thing as a "hangover," meaning that you can return to work, run errands, and even drive - no inconvenient downtime required!

Oral Sedation

For our patients who need a bit more help relaxing, we can prescribe an oral medication to be taken approximately one hour before your appointment. This medication, which is typically a mild anti-anxiety prescription, helps to eliminate the fear of going to the dentist. You'll calmly arrive for your appointment and may even drift off during your appointment. Oral sedation, however, does maintain a level of consciousness so we can communicate with you while we complete your dental work. A word of caution: with oral sedation, you will need a friend or family member to drive you to and from your appointment.

We're happy to serve patients from Red Oak, Lancaster, Ovilla, Glenn Heights, Desoto, Waxahachie, Ferris, Arlington, Grand Prairie, or the Dallas and Fort Worth Metroplex and beyond." To learn more about our available dental services, call us at (972) 672-0896.
